Throwback Thursday – “Today I Cried..”

August 16, 2018 0 By Shelly

I am in the process of moving my old poetry site to a new hosting account and want to start out with a post of one of my favorite pieces that I wrote back then. It reminds me of the pain I was feeling when my mom passed away.

So in memory of my mom here is the poem “Today I Cried…”

Today I cried, released some pain

It drenched my soul like a steady rain

My heart was breaking for a last good bye

A few precious words to remember her by

No sorrow for me, it’s a downhill climb

The moment has passed, that moment in time

So I put down a few words to express my ache

To pass to you these words to take

Speak today the love you feel

Don’t be silent, don’t conceal

Expose the contents of your heart

The bottled feelings you must impart

To everyone that you hold dear

Say those words and hold them near

Each day could be your last

For me that day has already passed
